Mattea obtained her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in 2019 and her Master of Advocacy in 2020 at the University of Malta. She was admitted to the Maltese Bar in 2021. She works within the compliance sector of Aegis Corporate Services Limited and is mainly responsible for drafting and updating the company’s AML policies and obtaining the required due diligence documentation from clients. Mattea also assists with the drafting of representations and the filing of appeals in cases concerning AML/CFT.
Mattea was previously a legal trainee with the shipping department of Mifsud & Mifsud Advocates, whereby she assisted with the registration of vessels and drafting of various contracts, including seafarer employment agreements.
